  3. Why you should be using an external data backup device to protect your personal data.
  4. What the recommended hardware for making backups are (an external USB or a dvd/cd disk drive.
  5. How to setup the Windows 10 backup process.
  6. How to restore your Windows 10 device after a failed software app or update installation using restore points.
  7. How to restore your personal files after a hard disk problem using your personal usb disk drive backup.
  8. Whether or not you should also make archival back-ups of non-replaceable data such as tax returns and family pictures?
  9. What on-line/cloud backups are, when they should be used and why it may be useful to some homeowners.

Description:

This course covers why you need data backups to protect your data from mechanical failure and lost. It also reviews the hardware and software that is required to be used. It is taught using Windows 10 operating system and its backup process. Once you have a reliable back-up process, it should give you peace of mind since you will no longer have a significant risk of losing your personal data.

The 1st hour of the class will be lecture. The 2nd hour will involve actual hardening of students’ computer in the class – assumes the student brings their computer to the class.
