• Proficiency with mouse: placing cursor, dragging, clicking, double clicking.
• Basic PC knowledge: scroll bar, title bar, menu bar, dropdown menu, opening & tiling windows.
• Basic internet skills: searches, window management.
• General familiarity with basic genealogy research methods.

Objectives:

3. What are the different types of DNA tests available?
4. How can I use DNA in my genealogy research?
5. What companies offer the tests and which one is the "best"?
6. How do I go online and order a DNA test kit?
7. What do the results actually mean?

Description:

We will review the various types of genealogy DNA testing available today and their costs. Examples will be shown as to how DNA has been used to prove and disprove family connections. We will also discuss which DNA tests may surprise you with the discovery of unknown relatives. During session 2 we will show you how to order your own DNA kit from one of the vendors. We will review the kind of results you get back and what it means and what it does not mean.
